Light and heat

Hi again ! In this thread I'm going to tell you about Light and Heat.

Light
Light travels in a straight line and they travel at different speeds from one medium to another and causing refraction.

Now what is refraction?

Refraction is bending of light at the boundary of the two media. Refraction is responsible for the different size of images formed by lenses in gadgets, such as magnifying glasses, microscopes, spectacles, cameras, telescopes and others.

The pencil appears to be bent
( Sorry for the picture, it's upside down )

Refraction also occurs when light passes through a prism, droplets of rain, waterfall and a spray of water from garden hose. Droplets of rain causing the dispersion of the component colors of light like a rainbow.

Heat
Heat travels through conduction, convection and radiation

What is conduction?
Conduction is a transfer from one part to another within an object or between objects. This is called conduction. When a spoon is touched in a boiling or hot water, heat is transferred from the water to the spoon.

What is convection?
Convection is the transfer of heat from one region to another by the movement of fluid. When a fluid is heated up, it expands. This means that its volume increases and its density decreases.

Radiation
Radiation is the release of heat from the surface of most bodies that is transferred directly from one region to another. Heat is directly transferred without having to travel through any objects or substances. This means that heat can be transferred even if there's no air/oxygen.
