My Science Project !!

For my science project, me and my group made a cat doll! Well its kinda of a doll but it is made of a box. We have to make 2 of those so we have the small and tall one and the other one is a wide one which looks like the cat is fat.

How we make it.

First we have to paint the 2 boxes with the brown colored paint. Then, I do the drawing of the cat's face, feat and hands, I draw the cute face. Next, we make the ears and tails and paste it, oh and I made a blush on the cat's face, a pink circle on the cat's feat and ears and a ribbon, we also add a bubble to it and it says "Meow !". Next, we make an oval shape with white paper to its tummy, and the final touch, we add glitter to it.

That one is the fat one, the other is in the exhibit. It's a successful project. You can make this at home too. Try to recycle anything you want and save the earth !!

Sound

Hi there! Now in this thread I'm going to tell you about sound. What is sound ?
Sound is a type of energy made by vibrations. When any object vibrates, it causes movement in the air particles. These particles bump into the particles close to them, which makes them vibrate too causing them to bump into more air particles. This movement, called sound waves, keeps going until they run out of energy. If your ear is within range of the vibrations, you hear the sound.

How does sound travels ?

Sound travels away from the source in all directions and its loudness decreases with increasing distance from the source, they travel in different speeds in different media. Sound need a medium to travel. We cannot hear an alarm clock when it rings inside a jar with a vacuum, because there is no air or any other medium through which sound can travel.

Vacuum is a space which has no matter in it.

This is the sound that's going to our ear.

Plastic cup telephone

In school, I have a project with my partner to make a plastic cup telephone. We have to make a hole in the cup and put a string in it, I use a cutter and scissors to make the hole actually my partner do the hole part because I can't really do it.
Then we try the cup telephone first to see if it works and it did ! If we want to make it work, let the string become straight.
Next, we have to paint it we paint the cups.

This is me painting my cup.

This is my partner painting her cup.

We paint green for the grass, blue for clouds and yellow for the sun. It's a very simple painting. Then, we try it again and it still works.

This is me trying the telephone cup for the 2nd time.

This is my partner trying the telephone cup for the 2nd time too.

This project is done! You can try this at home
if you want to. Good luck making this !!

Light and heat

Hi again ! In this thread I'm going to tell you about Light and Heat.

Light
Light travels in a straight line and they travel at different speeds from one medium to another and causing refraction.

Now what is refraction?

Refraction is bending of light at the boundary of the two media. Refraction is responsible for the different size of images formed by lenses in gadgets, such as magnifying glasses, microscopes, spectacles, cameras, telescopes and others.

The pencil appears to be bent
( Sorry for the picture, it's upside down )

Refraction also occurs when light passes through a prism, droplets of rain, waterfall and a spray of water from garden hose. Droplets of rain causing the dispersion of the component colors of light like a rainbow.

Heat
Heat travels through conduction, convection and radiation

What is conduction?
Conduction is a transfer from one part to another within an object or between objects. This is called conduction. When a spoon is touched in a boiling or hot water, heat is transferred from the water to the spoon.

What is convection?
Convection is the transfer of heat from one region to another by the movement of fluid. When a fluid is heated up, it expands. This means that its volume increases and its density decreases.

Radiation
Radiation is the release of heat from the surface of most bodies that is transferred directly from one region to another. Heat is directly transferred without having to travel through any objects or substances. This means that heat can be transferred even if there's no air/oxygen.

Weather !

Hello ! Now the topic is about the weather. First let me tell you about the types of clouds .
- Cirrus
Cirrus clouds are formed in the atmosphere at 8000 m. It looks like feathers in the sky.
- Nimbostratus
Nimbostratus clouds are formed at 2400 m in the atmoshphere. It brings heavy rain and looks like grey blankets in the sky.
- Cumulus
Cumulus clouds are formed about a height of 2000 m in the atmosphere. Cumulus clouds are white and fluffy like cotton balls.

I like cumulus clouds better than cirrus.
- Stratus
Stratus clouds are formed in the height of 2000 m in the atmosphere. Stratus clouds are flattened sheets of cloud. They cause overcast weather.

- Cumulonimbus
Cumulonimbus clouds extend from a height 2000 m to 16 000 m in the atmosphere. When Cumulus clouds turn grey grey it is called Cumulonimbus , which can produce hail ,rain or lightning

Fog.
A fog is a low-lying cloud. It is formed when the ground is cold, such as in winter or at night.

It is very hard to see when there's a fog that's this thick.

Dew
Dew is a drops of water on cold objects usually in the early morning or late evening. Dew is formed when water vapour condenses on the leaf which is at a temperature below the dew point.

Wind
You can't see a wind but u can feel the breeze. When the the Earth is heated up by the Sun, the air above it is also heated up. The warm air expands and rises into the upper atmosphere, then , in another region the surface of Earth is cooler, the air above is also cooler. Thus the cooler air from this region of higher pressure rushes in to replace the warm air.

Positive effects
The positive effects of wind are to disperse a plants seeds , recreational activities , smell an animal's prey or predators , make the environment more cool.

Negative effects
The negative effects of wind are hurricanes , tornadoes, uproot trees, rocks to erode , even can cause floods.

Hail
During thunderstorms, there are updrafts and upward currents of air , caused by the rising warm air . The updrafts carry raindrops into the upper levels of the atmosphere , the upper levels are very cold so the raindrops freeze as ice.The ice crystals become bigger and heavier until they can't be supported by the updrafts. They then fall to the ground as hail stones.

I hope there's no hail that have a size of mini vans.

              ====================================

That's all for now ! You can identify the clouds what type is that or even        guess what weather should now be coming up !!

Human population increases and decreases

There's so many people in the Earth we can reach to nine million by about the year of 2040. These are the factors affecting human population size which is birth rate and Death rate . The birth rate is the number of babies born in a year for every 1000 people .A high birth rate may be caused by:
            - Early marrieges
            - Lack of knowledge of birth control

A high birth rate and a low death rate will result in an increase in the size of a population. A high death rate may be caused by :
                 - Diseases
                 - Famine
                 - natural disasters

The death rate is the number of people dying in a year for 1000 people. A high death rate and a low birth rate will result in a decrease in the size of a population.

The human population may be described by its population density .When the population in a place grows , the population density of that place increase.

Population density is affected by Human migration which occurs in the form of Immigration and Emigration.People who migrate are called migrants
Immigration takes place when people move into a country permanently. People who Immigrate are called Immigrants . Emigration takes place when people move out of the country permanently. People who emigrate are called emigrants

                                That's all for this now

STOP POLLUTING !

What is "Pollution" ?

Pollution is the introduction of substances that poison the environment . Pollution can come from chemical waste dumped into rivers, factories releasing toxins into the air, people burning trashes, accidents, and many other sources. Pollutants can cause diseases, including cancer, lupus, immune diseases, allergies, and asthma.Lung cancer can result from factories and car exhaust.  Contamination caused by pollution can have damaging effects in the brain and central nervous system.

Kinds of pollution

There are many kinds of pollution it's air, water, noise, soil, radioactive, and thermal pollution but these are the common types of pollution : air pollution, water pollution and soil pollution.

Air pollution is the introduction of chemicals and others that cause harm to humans or other living organisms, or cause damage to the environment.  These are the causes of the air pollution :
- Increased human activities
- Population growth
- Roadway construction
- motor vehicle exhaust
- Heat and power generation facilities
- Industrial processes
- Fertilizers plants
- Building demolition
- Forest fire

Water pollution is contamination of water by foreign matter that deteriorates the quality of the water. Water pollution occurs when pollutants are discharged directly or indirectly into water bodies without adequate treatment to remove harmful compounds. It has been suggested that it is the leading worldwide cause of deaths and diseases,
These are causes of the water pollution :
-         Waste water
-         Marine dumping
-         Industrial waste
-         Radioactive waste
-         Oil pollution
-         Underground storage leakages
-         Atmospheric deposition
-         Global warming

Soil pollution is defined as the build-up in soils of persistent toxic compounds, chemicals, salts, radioactive materials, or disease which have adverse effects on plant growth and animal health.
The causes of soil pollution are :
-   Seepage from a landfill
-  Discharge of industrial waste into the soil
-  Percolation of contaminated water into the soil
-  Rupture of underground storage tanks
-  Excess application of pesticides, herbicides or fertilizer
-  Solid waste seepage

These are the causes of pollution in my grandma's house

The dirty corner of the backyard.

kebab wrapper and a tissue.

This is her clean side of her backyard .

Make our world a better world by not causing pollutions !
                    LET'S REDUSE , REUSE , RECYCLE!
